Advice to Help You Travel Uganda

If you have never visited Uganda, you are truly missing out on a plethora of exciting things. Uganda is known for its lush landscapes, unique mammal species, organic food, conducive weather, friendly people, and diverse culture. These amazing attractions entice millions of tourists to the motherland.

If you wish to visit Uganda and enjoy its extraordinary attractions on their next vacation, here are a few tips to help you.

Distribute resources

If practicable, you may wish to go for separate dining and accommodation options. Though all-inclusive safari packages are less costly, most of the funds are expatriated outside Uganda. Most lodges in Uganda are owned by foreigners and take all the profits back to their countries yet eco-tourism is about improving the livelihood of the local communities. It is best to sleep in a comfortable place (modern safari lodge) and enjoy meals in local restaurants to support the communities and their people.

Avoid peak season

If you want to be frugal on your trip to Uganda ensure to travel during the low season. Travel in Uganda has two seasons, the peak including January to February, June through October and December, and the low comprising mid-March to May and November. In the peak season, the number of tourists in the country is high hence the increase in the prices of tourism commodities such as park entrance and activities, accommodation, meals, and car rental in Uganda. On the contrary, during the low season, the rates seem to go down due to the turn up of tourists.

Check out the countryside

The vibrant city of Kampala is exciting and enjoyable to experience but the countryside of Uganda is captivating and adventurous. The countryside presents Uganda’s 10 national parks, endowed with a plethora of unique wildlife species never seen anywhere in the world. Some of the major highlights in the countryside are the mountain gorillas found in Bwindi impenetrable national park, the four of the big five (lions, elephants, buffaloes, and leopards) residing in Queen Elizabeth national park, Kidepo Valley National Park, and Murchison Falls National Park, the snow capped peaks on Rwenzori and lastly the chimpanzees at Kibale forest national park. Spend most of your time here to appreciate and enjoy nature holistically without any sort of interruption.  On such expeditions, you are advised to book a 4×4 vehicle customized with a pop-up roof for a better game viewing experience.

Have meals at a local restaurant

You are not expected to taste the same food as the one back home. You are going to try out something new and this is why you have to dine at local restaurants. Dining at the local restaurants permits you to savor organic and tongue-wagging foods such as matooke, groundnuts, Luwombo, cassava, sweet potatoes, and greens.  Do not forget to request for a fruit cold juice to accompany your delicious meal.

Visit the craft shops

You would want to go with something back home to remind you about the experience you had in Uganda, a sovereign in form of sandals, bracelets, necklace, African attire, a Uganda cranes jersey, an artifact of a gorilla, or any other animal, and many more would do you great. More so, visiting the craft shops and buying something is one way of supporting the local communities.

Adhere to Ugandan time

People in Uganda never care about punctuality. They have a norm that everything must be given enough time and if it fails, tomorrow is another day. Henceforth, you have to be patient and tolerant when dealing with them.

To cut the long article short, the above is the advice to consider to have a successful travel experience in Uganda
