Adventurous travelers ought to visit Uganda because not only does the country have plenty of attractions but it also gives room to a variety of activities that can be done during your vacation to this mother land. When we talk about activities, what comes to most of the people’s minds are game drives, gorilla trekking, cultural visits and so much more but there is this exceptional activity called bungee jumping you should never miss out during your time of travel here because this is the only country in the whole of East Africa from where you can have this incredible experience.
The minimum age allowed to do this jump is 13 years and the best time to take it on is during the day and evenings because the night may not permit good views and taking of memorable photographs. Please note that it is better for you to take it on during sunny days because during the rain, the ropes may be slippery.
Taking place in the eastern part of the country in a district called Jinja which is an hour’s drive from Uganda’s capital Kampala, the activity is done on the longest River in Africa, the Nile. It is organized by a specialist company known as adrift whose major aim is ensuring that you enjoy it with the highest level of pleasure and ease.
After taking steps/ climbing at the top of the point from where you are going to jump i.e the bungee tower, you will have a magnificent view of the scenic nature around that area. Imagine viewing the Nile flow below your eyes, watching the forested islands with troops of monkeys swinging and wondering over trees. The feel is indeed splendid and complimented by on lookers from the neighboring area who cheer you up. Since the tower is able to accommodate up to 235 kilograms, you can choose to do it with a friend.
On the count of 3..2..1, you will take the jump. Here, you will be tied in a way that is meant to protect you and give you a feel of comfort. One can choose between the ankle tie enabling your whole body swing freely while facing upside down and a full body tie where you can swing like a butterfly in the air. This will allow you free style, somersault and enjoy beautiful photographs taken from the best view in the air.
The moment you are at that tower, the only thing you are left to do is jumping. At this point a feeling of fear may run through your blood and you may even decide to push back but like the going says, “Try and fail but do not fail to try,” if you indeed failed to try this out, you will never know what you will have missed. Noted as one of the most daring sport activities, bungee jumping is not recommended for those afraid of heights. Whereas some people prefer a water deep where some parts of their body such as the hands and head are sunk into the Nile, others may not prefer this option but with either choice taken, you will extremely enjoy it. When you reach the bottom, a guide will be awaiting you and he will help untie you then lead you to a place of your preference from where you can relax. It is better for you to take on this experience rather than being told by someone because it’s awesomely amazing. Please note that you can do a short jump or a long one enabling you touch the Nile. The choice is always yours to make.
A responsible team of experts will always be ready to take you through the entire activity and ensure that it is fun for you. Right from the word go when you climb that tower, to the point you actually jump, until when you land down after the jump, every person responsible to help you out avails him or herself at the right time and in the most pleasant manner. The equipment used is up to date and in very good shape. It is actually stronger than what you think. All this is meant for you to feel safe and have fun.
The body obliged to take on this activity ensures that standards and procedures established for this activity are highly followed not only nationally but internationally. Standards are reviewed twice a year and updates are taken where necessary concerning the entire activity.
While in Jinja, you will not only enjoy bungee jumping but plenty of other activities such as white water rafting, sport fishing, quad biking, kayaking, horseback riding and visiting the source of the Nile.
