The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has signed an agreement worth $3m worth sh4b with a Germany investor to manage wildlife which is not in gazetted parks.

The investor, Christian Weth, will invest in eco-tourism and game farming in Luwero and Nakaseke districts said the UWA publicist Lillian Nsubuga.Weth said that there is huge potential for tourism, sport-hunting and game farming in this area. This will increase on the number of tourists who come to visit Uganda’s tourism sites for example Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where tourists go for gorilla trekking safaris, Kibale Forest National Park, Mgahinga Gorilla Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and many others.

He owns the Uganda Wildlife Safaris, a tour and travel agency, which would work closely with the districts officials.Luwero and Nakaseke have animals such as warthogs, leopards, bushbucks, hyenas and Uganda kobs.

The UWA executive director, Moses Mapesa, said Weth’s task would be to attract people who are interested in vermin animals to hunt the animals.UWA is planning to extend the programme to other parts of Uganda, the statement added.
