The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) and the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) will run three business days for exhibitors and show goers and tourists during the UMA trade fair.

Ruth Musoke, the PSFU director for member service, said that the business days would be part of the parallel business meeting events that will be held during the trade fair at the UMA Main Conference Hall.

The days would involve business seminars, talks and demonstrations aimed at exposing exhibitors, show goers and the general public to new business ideas and technology improvement. She further added that the business days are meant to expose the public to new innovations and business ideas, new technologies and technology improvement, product design and development, business partnerships and joint ventures, marketing of industrial products and market development.

Musoke explained that the business days are open to the general public from 9.00am to 5.00pm and the attendance is free for all and no need for pre-registration.

She added that the initiative would be an annual event pararell to the trade fair as a way of continued support to local business people to make more competitive both locally and international.

Musoke explained that last year’s Uganda International Trade Fair attracted over 817 exhibitors from 31countries with over 170,000 show goers. She said this year 900 participants from over 30 countries were registered.

The President of Uganda President Yoweri Museveni is expected to open the fair on October 10th 2008.

The Chairman of the Trade Fair James Kalibbala said the trade fair would be held under the theme ‘Linking production to prospective markets through value-addition’.
