The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is making plans to strengthen security at Entebbe International Airport which is the international airport of Uganda. This is the main entry and exit point of the country. All people arriving and leaving Uganda  for example tourists, business people, heads of state use this airport.

According to the aviation authority’s website, CAA has called for the supply of security screening equipment.

Security has become a major consideration for aviation authorities around the world following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the US. Countries have had to upgrade their security equipment to ensure safety at the airports.

The procurement be will done using the open international bidding process which is open to all bidders ‘from eligible source countries.’

Bid documents can be inspected from the office of the procurement manager at the CAA headquarters in Entebbe.

They cost sh100, 000 or $60 from the CAA cash office at Entebbe airport terminal building. Bidders must have a bid security of $7,400 (sh12m). The deadline for submission of the bids is November 18 at 10:30am. They will be opened in the boardroom on the same day.
