Uganda has various car hire services which cater for both local and international customers. The services provided go beyond Uganda to other neighboring countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Congo among others. These services are available at the airport, city center mainly in Kampala and other convenient locations. Most of these services require a valid driver’s license with 2 years driving experience in case you opt for self drive.
The car hire services in Uganda offer vehicles for both long and short term use which gives an opportunity to travelers to rent a car for a specified period. These services are popular used by travelers going for business trips, vacations, weddings, corporate events or when you need to use a car temporarily. The cars used offer self drive and chauffer driven services and cars offered include; Saloon cars which include Corona, Corolla and Caldina, 4×4 Station Wagons which include Land cruisers and Pajeros, 4×4 Omni buses which include 7 seater, 10 seater and 12 seater, Costa buses (25 and 28 seater) as well as buses(50 up to 60 seater).
Chauffer Driven Services/ Car with a driver
With this service, travelers rent a car with a driver to drive them around for a specified period. Chauffer services are typically used for luxury travels, business trips, safari trips, airport transfers, or on special events like weddings, parties and corporate functions. The car hire services in chauffer tends to be more expensive than the regular car rental services since you pay for the driver’s time.
Self Drive
Self drive is an act of renting the car without a chauffer and drive it by yourself wherever you want. Self drive comes with benefits like privacy, flexibility, affordability making it the best option for road trip in Uganda. For those planning to visit the remote areas of the country, it is a must to rent a 4×4 car to cruise through the jungle with ease
Safety Driving Measures:
In order to avoid problems while traveling in Uganda, take note of the following:
Always have to check well your car rental Uganda before driving off.
In Uganda, we keep left when driving.
It’s a good idea to have a fire-extinguisher on board.
Keep away from wild animals most especially elephants, buffaloes, hippos, lions, leopards, rhinos because they are a danger to your life.
Fall the traffic rules and regulations.
For those with planes of visiting game parks, fall the park rules and always make sure you have a full tank of fuel before entering the park.
Try as much as possible not to drive alone at night.
Self drivers do not give lift to people you find on the way because you never know who you taking.

Do not travel without a first Aid Kit, Oil enough to refill the sump, spare petrol to last for not less than 300km and water of drinkable quality and for refilling the engines cooling system if it bursts.
Most comfortable driving speed is about 60km/hr.
Always make sure you have your your documents with you.
Always make sure your car does are locked whether in it or out of it most especially in Kampala

A valid drivers license with a minimum of 2 years driving experience.
A copy of your passport foreigner or National ID for Uganda National.
